Two Month Down the Road

Remember upon the conduct of each depends the fate of all”
Alexander the Great

We are about to be two month with the shop/gallery open. It is a learning experience and we are still at an early stage as to make any conclusion about the possible success and future of this endeavour.

As it is stated in our web page: Our aim is to provide an open space to promote local talent and showcase artists, arts and crafts. We want to join creative energies. the site is inspired by a sense of collective consciousness and social awareness, while promoting artists, arts, crafts, events, ideas, exhibitions, festivals, learning opportunities and all that may lead or promote art and collective thought. Art with a consciousness! An inclusive web site and initiative.

Some of the Creative Collaborator members have been very conscious and involved in the running of the shop/gallery by giving time to run the shop, give donations, or to promote our philosophy.
Still a lot more could be done, specially when most of the responsibility has been shared by few. The shop/gallery needs help. Creative Collaborators also needs help to keep growing. The need for collective thought to promote what we do as artist and creative people must become a way of management and participation.
Joining to be able to showcase someone’s work for a low sale percentage is not what we are about. This comes as a benefit for all because we all pitch in with what we can do. Are you able to help running the shop/gallery day a week, a day every fortnight or a day a month? It is a need and fair, for the burden can not be placed on just a few. (It would also help the ones that are doing most of the shop/gallery work to plan their life and daily activities!).

There are also other ways to help Creative Collaborators. How about promoting workshops, by contacting other members to enhance creativity and open opportunities, how about some creative promotional ideas or the sharing of valuable important information? If members are not active, what is the point of them joining?

At present management for the shop/gallery are observing the development of the shop/gallery as a business, but also as one arm of what Creative Collaborators is all about. If our goals are not met, what is the point of keeping a shop/gallery that just has a low percentage income from sales. Even if at a time the shop/gallery makes profits (even big profits), but it is not a collective effort, we would be betraying the main and soul purpose of the shop/gallery according to our philosophy.

So, please, review what has been said in our web page, think about the need and importance of a collective set of mind and the promotion and joining of creative energies and find ways to support a group endeavour to make it feasible.

Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success. If everyone is moving forward together, then success takes care of itself”
Henry Ford
