Artist of the month

Our Artsit of the month for December is KIRSTI LORD, this lady has put so much energy into CC since it opened, in time, effort and donations despite having young children and problems with an eye, Kirsti is also our best seller, she knows what the customer wants, affordable jewellery and has had to restock several times. I know that her stall at Wallace Hall last weekend also brought her many just rewards :) I think Kirsti´s enterprise can only keep on growing.

Born 1st July 1972 in Motherwell (steel working town) North Lanarkshire.
Came to the region in August 1994 to work the summer season in a hotel...still here 17 years later living in Auldgirth, married 10 years with 2 daughters aged 4 & 8. Country girl now!

Have HND in Information and Media Technology, which I've never put to any use. Over the years have worked in hotels, shops and Post Office..spent the last 8 years raising the family.

Self taught, still in the very early stages and have so much more still to learn, only been making beaded jewellery for 10 months. Something that was always a bit of a pipe dream and was put on the back burner til the kids got a bit older and I had a little spare time.

Jewellery- sets, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, anklets, girls bracelet kits
Accessories/gifts- keyrings/bag charms, bookmarks, wine glass charms, Christmas decorations

I use wooden and glass beads to create affordable (elegant/quirky/ethnic/Bohemian???..take your pick ) jewellery suitable for any occasion and appealing to all ages.  Jewellery varies from vibrant multi coloured to more muted, natural/ethnic wooden pieces. No two items are the same as they develop differently as I work on them.

I enjoy the variety of colour, shape and texture offered from glass beads and people have been using wooden beads for thousands of years...I love their natural feel and ethnic quality, they provide a terrific richness of colour, grain and patterns.

I get a huge sense of satisfaction and pride creating pieces for women to enjoy wearing as much as I do.
Beautiful earrings
